PTA Board Members - Chair Positions
Book Fair Chairperson - Sarah Turner
The Chairperson acts as a main point of contact between the Semper PTA and Scholastic, Inc with the Library Teacher to coordinate and run the book fair. Semper holds 2 book fairs, typically held during the weeks of Parent Teacher Conferences in the Fall and Spring. Scholastic, Inc. owns the book fair and have several key contacts within their business whose primary job is to assist the book fair chairperson and Teacher Librarian which increases the success of the book fair. The chairperson is responsible for organizing decorations advertisements, volunteers, and general layout of the book fair as well as reporting back to the PTA regarding the needs and success of the book fair. This includes supervising the set-up and take-down events. Reports to the PTA Vice President
Cookie Dough Chairperson - Tonya Aultman-Bettridge
The Chairperson acts as a main point of contact between the Semper PTA and the main point of contact for the company which sells the cookie dough - this year is 360 Fund Raising. Semper traditionally holds one Cookie Dough Fund Raiser, usually in September with the Dough arriving in October. The Chairperson is responsible for promotion of the event, coordinating volunteers to handle the Fund Raiser Kickoff, the organizing and accounting for orders taken, as well as organizing and handling out the Cookie Dough to children and families based on the order forms collected. It is also the Chairperson's job to oversee these tasks and to ensure that thigns run as smoothly as possible. The Chairperson is also responsible for reporting back to the PTA the success of this event.Reports to the PTA Treasurer
Room Parent Chairperson- Jana Rodriguez
The Room Parent Chairperson is responsible for organizing the group of parents who have volunteered to hold the Room Parent position. This job entails collecting information on who would liketo be Chairperson, gathering information on the current class (names of students as well as size of class), and providing this information to the Room Parent for use throughout the school year for the 3 parties which are put together throughout the year. The Room Parent Chair is responsible for providing information on current Room Parents to the Volunteer Coordinator so that this information can be included in the School Directory. The Room Parent Chair acts as a liason between the PTA Board and the Room Parents to convey important information regarding classrooms not covered and additional requests made for the Room Parents. Finally, the Room Parent Chair acts as a voice of experience to the Room Parents, answering questions regarding the mechanics of the party or assisting with any issues presented by a Room Parent in the planning of an event. Multicultural Day Chair - (Open)
This position is responsible for working with the Principal and other Teachers/Staff to create a celebration of all of the cultural diversity which Semper has. Typically responsibilities include assisting with decorations, food organization, as well as set up and take down of the event. Reports to the PTA Vice President
Teacher Appreciation Week Chair - (Open)
This position is responsible for creating a theme for the week (or specific days) and communication of this theme to the student populace. This week of the year typically falls during Spring Student-Led conferences, and therefor responsibility may include assistance in organization of a dinner for the Teachers. It is suggested that this Chair Person work closely with Room Parents, as Room Parents may have specific needs or desires during this week. Reports to the PTA Vice President
CSAP Snacks Chair - Julie Gerlieve
This position is responsible for organizing snacks to be handed out to our 3rd - 6th grade students while they are sitting for CSAP tests. The PTA covers expense for these snacks to better assist our children to do the best they can on the CSAPS, and to brighten an otherwise gloomy set of days (how many students love to take tests all day long?). This position may wish to coordinate with Room Parents if possible to assist in sorting out the snacks as well as in conjunction with teachers and the Principal regarding other activities planned to excite students during that time. Reports to the PTA President
Red Ribbon Week Chair - Open
This position is responsible for planning dates, times, and events in coordination with the Principal for Semper's Red Ribbon Week. Ideas and suggested activities can be found at Imdrugfree.com. Typically an annual budget exists for supplies and to obtain a Speaker for an assembly during this week. The Chairperson is responsible for communication of this event as well as coordination of needed volunteers to make this event a success. Reports to the PTA President.
Talent Show Chair - Sandra Ginther
This position is responsible for planning dates, times and coordination of this event. In addition, this position meets with a committee of volunteers to determine formats for talent selection/rehearsals for this event, as well as communication to the student body and Teachers and Staff of event times and meetings as well as building use. Reports to the PTA President.
Take Your Family to School Week Chair - (Open)
This position is responsible for organizing and planning dates, times and events during this fun week. This position will work closely with the principal or other school staff to plan fun events for the student body. Box Tops /Campbell's/Tyson/Coke programs/Semper Gear/King Sooper's cards - Disa Curtis (sunshine04b@yahoo.com)
This position acts as a liason between Semper Elementary and program sponsors - (General Mills, Coke, King Soopers). This position designs programs and incentives to maximize interest, participation, and return. This entails advertising via newsletter, flyers or display board and communicating with the Campbell's Labels for Education Chairperson for joint effort. This position is accomplished by picking up labels from classroom collection boxes once a month, sorting, grouping, and counting lables following General Mills submission guidelines, and mailing labels to General Mills at least twice a year.
